Guide to Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon Feature Week

Sweetwater Single Estate Semillon 2024, Hunter Valley, AUD $35

Winemaker Bryan Currie is doing great things with the Sweetwater and Hungerford Hill wines. This wine was grown on clay-loam soils which Currie says produce a less-steely wine that comes out of its shell earlier than those grown on the sandy old creekbeds.

Light yellow, bright; reserved, restrained aromas of lemon and herbs (not green); the palate restrained, refined and delicate yet intense with powerful drive of fruit balanced by refreshing acidity and a bone-dry balance. Delicious and mouth-watering. This will take some age well. (Screwcap)
